Belly Itching

29 weeks. My last week in the 20's!  My belly is growing like crazy.  I see some possible signs of stretch marks. Boo!....My grandma says I should just get over it because I'm sure in the next month they are going to be popping up left and right! She's right, Oh well....That just means when I do have them I won't be posting any more bare belly pictures. I'll spare you that scary sight.  So with the growing belly comes a lot of itching!  My skin is stretching so much. I'm using oils and lotions daily so hopefully that keeps the marks to a minimum.  And my stomach is stretched to the point where I am numb to surface touch in the areas around my belly button.  A very strange feeling.

We had our monthly scan this week.  It's getting so hard to measure and see everything on each baby because they are so crammed in there and overlapping each other!!  But they all  look great. Excellent heart beats and fluid. Baby A had the hiccups during the ultra sound, so that was fun to see and feel at the same time.  The estimated weights are:

A (boy)  3 lbs 10 oz.
B (girl)   3 lbs
C (boy)   2 lbs 4 oz. ....Oh baby C.....He's our little peanut. :) Doctor says his weight it right on track and the other two are just a little on the chubby side.

I told Ryan, I wish I had some way of designating who gets the food I eat! I think we should be giving more food to the little peanut so he can catch up to his brother and sister.

So their combined weight is only 2 oz. shy of 9 lbs of baby! Anybody deliver a singleton baby at less than that weight!? I think a lot of full term babies weigh less than that!

My next scan is scheduled for February 23rd.  I hope I stay pregnant long enough to make it for one more scan.  That would be awesome!

I also saw MY doctor this week.  He says I'm doing very well compared to the other triplet moms he's had as patients.  He said they usually have had complications by now or have been in and out of the hospital monitoring contractions by this point.  So compared to them, I'm doing excellent.  He doesn't see any reason why I couldn't make it to week 33 or 34.  The farthest he would let me go is 36 weeks.  He said most triplet pregnancies end, not because the mom goes into labor, but because the mom's blood pressure gets too high that it becomes dangerous for the mom to stay pregnant.  My blood pressure is 104/66.  Which is on the lower end of normal (I think).  So no problem there...yet.

Weight gain......hmmmm...well I guess I will include this in each post because I think it will be crazy to see how much it will change in the weeks to come.  And I'll also include inches around the belly so you can tell how big I'm getting! If you can't see that already from the pictures I post. haha.

Total weight gain: 27 lbs. (keep in mind almost 9lbs of that is baby. Plus fluid and placenta weight for all  3. So I think I'm doing pretty good so far.)
Belly inches: 46 inches (First time I've measured it so I don't have anything to compare it to. We'll have to see what it is next week!)

Today was the first time I've had somebody as me if I was due any day now.  I said "no, I still have at least a month to go"  Her eyes got really big.  So I think that confirmed my feelings! I feel like I'm ready to pop! hah!

I just want to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! to my wonderful Husband!!! Ryan is turning 29 tomorrow, on the 29th of January.  His Golden Birthday! This year will be both of our last years spent in our 20's.  Crazy!  I say there is no better way to spend the last year, of a decade of life, than raising newborn triplets! This will keep us young.....right?!?!

Ryan took a picture of me and I couldn't believe the difference between this weeks and last weeks picture!!! You'll have to scroll down to last weeks post and compare. I have definitely grown in just one week.

I'm started to get wider on the sides of my belly!

We made it to the first BIG goal!!! 28 WEEKS!

Week 28 means a 90% chance of survival with minimal chance of life long health conditions if the babies were born today!!! Of course the longer they stay in the womb, the healthier they will be so the next goal is to make it out of the 20's.  Week 30 here we come!
My Belly pic at 28 weeks :)

Some good news from the doctor.  I passed my 3 hour glucose test.  Meaning no gestational diabetes for me!  GD is very common with multiples and with 3, I was at a higher risk but I dodged that condition!

I'm very excited for next week. We have our monthly scan.  So we will be finding out their current weights and measurements.  And We get to see them.....So excited!

Some really GOOD news!! The triplet stroller we purchased will only last as long as the babies are in their infant carriers.  So Ryan and I have been looking into what will be the next stroller option.  I have joined a triplet group forum online and all of the women in this group really recommend and love the ABC adventure buggy.  This stroller fits through standard door ways! BUT it's only made in Australia/New Zealand.  It is listed on EBAY for $1500 plus $300 to ship it to the US.  This is a crazy amount of money to spend on a stroller, but Ryan and I were thinking it just might be worth the money with the use we'd get out of it. Anyway, onto the good news, I was logged onto the same triplet forum a week ago and the same ladies were talking about a January sale on this stroller! Order it straight from the manufacture for $699 and get free shipping to the US!!!  Needless to say we are definitely ordering this stroller now at less than half the price of what we were getting prepared to pay! The Lord always provides!!  Here's a picture of the future Holguin family stroller!

This past weekend 4 very special friends of mine threw me a beautiful baby shower.  Thank you so much Leslie, Corinne, Vanessa and Julie!  The decorations were adorable and the food was so yummy!

Corinne hand made these cute little birdies :)
It was so nice seeing everyone at the shower and catching up.  Now that I'm off work and basically ginormous I don't get out to social events too often so it was nice being around such great friends.  They were all way too generous and I feel so blessed to have such wonderful friends and church family.  I'm still in awe of their generosity.  My babies were spoiled!

Very soft handmade blankets!! Thank-you Linda!

Of course we'll have a girlie girl

All 3 say "I'm the cutest"!

Holly cross-stiched three bootie pictures and will add birth date, weight and names later!
I can't wait to have this special gift hanging in the nursery!

Leslie, Corinne, Myself, Vanessa, Julie
Thank you ladies for such an awesome shower! And for being such an encouragement to me!

Maternity Pictures

Some bummer news from my doctor's appointment last week. :( I did not pass my 1 hour glucose test.  My glucose was 142.  I guess the cut off used to be 140 but it has now been lowered to 130. So my doctor said I had to do the 3 hour test since my levels were above 140 but he doesn't think I will have a problem passing the 3 hour test.  I did the test this past monday so hopefully I pass!!  It was nice to see my coworkers and hang around the lab, which made drinking that nasty drink and sitting around for 4 hours not seem too bad.  I'm almost 27 weeks so only a little more than 1 week and I'm at the big 2 8 goal!

I'm looking forward to my baby shower this weekend thrown by some very special friends of mine.
Still no stretch marks on the belly. (keeping my fingers crossed)
Ryan and my dad have been working hard on installing cabinets/more storage in the nursery closet.  One of these blog updates, I'll be able post pictures of a decorated nursery!

So instead of a 26 week or 27 week belly picture, I'm posting our maternity pictures.  Ryan and I went to a local park and a friend of ours Becca Chavez took some beautiful pictures for us!  She has a cute photography blog you can check out here.  It was a freezing cold day, but I love that we got to take the pictures outside.  Becca did a great job! These are some of our favorites:

Happy New Year!!

We are welcoming 2011 with much anticipation! This is the birth year for our babies.  Yah!  We are in week 25! Only 3 more to go, to reach the BIG goal of 28 weeks.
I received my lovely steroid shots this week.  The doctor gave me my the first shot at the office, while showing Ryan how to do the second one.  24 hours later I got the second shot at home.  I think Ryan really enjoyed sticking a needle in me.  He was smiling, me...not so much.  The steroids stung like crazy! but they are going to benefit the babies so it's worth it.  The steroids help with their lung development and since it's known that triplets are usually born before 35 weeks, it is important to get their lungs developed quickly.  Weeks 24/25 is when the steroids work the best.
We had an ultra sound scan this week. Babies are doing great! They have all managed to change positions.  Both Boy's heads are facing up now, in the breech position. Baby girl has managed to flip her head down, so her feet are towards my ribs :) How they have room for all that moving, I have no idea?! Here are their profiles and stats.
BABY A: Approximate weight: 21bs 1oz He is in the 77th percentile
(he has always been the biggest!)

BABY B: Approximate weight: 1lb 10oz (our little girl)
She is in the 45th percentile
BABY C: Approximate weight: 1lb 9oz He is in the 45th percentile as well.
(his legs are above his head so its not a clear profile shot)
Each time we have a scan done, the ultrasound tech tries to get a clear 4D picture of the babies. Baby C is in such a crazy position, his legs just blurred out his face.  Baby B is so cute, she was yawning and moving her mouth.  A real talker I'm sure.  Ryan is so going to love that! :)  Baby A had the clearest picture so I'll show you his cute face and his little hand under his chin!

The babies don't started fattening up until after 28 weeks. So next month's scan will be fun to see how much they have grown!
Nothing else to share so far.
We appreciate all your prayers! These next 2 months are going to be the most crucial and the hardest by far.  I'm praying we at least make it to the end of February!
Each week, I will try and post a baby bump picture. I'm sure it's going to be growing so much faster in the next 8 weeks!
