24 weeks

VIABILITY!!!  We have made it to a major milestone today!!! I'm 24 weeks, which means if these little babies decide to come super early they still have 70% chance of survival outside the womb!!  Just 4 more weeks to make it to my BIG goal of 28 weeks.
I'm officially off work now. Trying to take it easy but the Dr. says I am NOT on bed rest. Which means he still wants me to stay mobile and do what I feel like I am able to do.  He said if I go on bed rest too soon, I might gain too much weight and my sugars could go out of wack.  I have my glucose test next week so we'll see if I pass.  My weight gain is 19 pounds so far. I weigh in again in 2 weeks.
This week has been pretty eventful. I came down with the flu on monday.  The flu is such a horrible thing to have and being this pregnant made it even worse!  It felt like I was going to have these babies every time I threw up! But thankfully it was short lived and I was feeling much better by wednesday.  Poor Ryan, he was such a great husband taking care of me, and as a thank you I guess I gave it to him. He came down with the flu just as I started feeling better.  Since the the flu put me in bed for a couple days, my ankle and my back have gotten much needed rest.  I haven't had to put ice on my ankle for 4 days now!! I hoping my "episodes" of pain are gone for good (keeping my fingers crossed)  I'm still going to the chiropractor weekly to make sure I stay in-line and my muscles stay relaxed.
The babies are moving like crazy! I can feel baby C's head rolling against my ribcage.  I'm sure that will eventually get painful. Every morning around 4:30 ALL 3 are moving, never fails. So I guess we know they will be early morning risers :)
Not big on the whole taking pictures of the baby bump thing but I figure I'll post some bare bellies this week because I'm sure the stretch marks are on their way! So here's my proof that there was a time my belly was free of stretch marks.
This is me at 24 weeks (keep in mind there are THREE in there, that's why I'm ginormous! Dr. says I'm measuring at 36 weeks if I were pregnant with a singleton)

The latest baby thing we've bought is our stroller. Ready for this? It's crazy long! The triple snap-n-go:
Can't wait to see the looks on peoples faces as I walk by with this thing full of babies :)

Here are some more Frequently asked Questions:
FAQ:
Q: Will you deliver naturally or have a c-section:
A: I will for sure be having a c-section. It's too hard to monitor all three babies during a natural birth
Q: So when is your scheduled c-section:
A: I won't get the luxury of scheduling a c-section and picking the birth date.  The c-section will be a last minute decision based on what is going on with my body.  If I go into labor super early they will try to stop it, if they can't then they will take me in for surgery.  I think the only time they will schedule a c-section in advance is if I go too long, which I believe is 36 weeks for triplets.
Q: Do you have names picked out:
A: Yes, we have the names picked out but we are keeping them a secret until the babies arrive.

We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas this weekend, spending time with family and friends and remembering Jesus' birth.  He is the reason for the season and we have so many blessings to be thankful for!!

Family Baby Shower!

My amazing cousin Chelsey along with my sister Holly, sister-in-law Heather and Aunt Lorrie gave me a beautiful baby shower.  Heather was flying in from Wyoming to attend a southern California wedding on December 4th and since that is where all my family lives they planned the shower that day. I'm so thankful Heather got to be there and share in my special day.  So my mom, my sister and I drove down south and stayed with my aunt for the weekend.  My ankle was still causing me pain, so I brought my crutches, several ice packs and pain meds.  Since showers were very hard for me, being on my foot that long was painful, I opted not to take a shower saturday morning when I woke up but I still wanted my hair freshly washed for the baby shower so this is how it was done....

On my Aunt's kitchen counter!!  I had my own personal hair stylists!!! My hair was washed, dried and smelled so good!  The things we do to avoid pain! :)

The shower was sooooo beautiful!! I made it there hopping on one foot and using crutches, almost fainted on the couch from getting a little over heated but was able to pull it together to get some good pictures and enjoy all of my wonderful family and all of their generous gifts to me.  I am feeling very blessed.

21 Weeks

So this week I've had a minor set back!  My ankle had been bothering me off and on for a couple days but then sunday after church my ankle was really throbbing and I couldn't get it to stop. There wasn't any swelling or redness but it hurt. Sunday night I had a hard time sleeping, my ankle woke me up around 1am, extremely throbbing and I was never able to go back to sleep after that, so when my alarm went off at 3:45 to get ready for work I got up to get ready but I couldn't even stand the pain long enough to get ready for work. So I called in sick thinking I would go to the doctor and get this fixed.  I went to the doctor monday he prescribed some meds. I tried to go to work tuesday but only lasted a few hours.  The pain was getting worse.  Wednesday I went to get x-rays, they were inconclusive. The films showed swelling but nothing abnormal for the bone structures.  I'm being referred to a orthopedic Dr. but he can't get me in until monday.  This is NOT how I wanted to use my sick time from work!!! I'm supposed to be saving this for maternity leave!
So it looks like I'm taking a trip down to LA for my first baby shower with a gimp foot and lots of ice packs! oh goodie.  I can't stand on my foot, As long as I keep it pretty still the pain subsides to a minor throb.  Ryan is getting his first glimpse of what bed rest will be like for me! I'm so thankful for him. He is taking such good care of me.  Poor guy, with these meds. I've been throwing up a lot this week, including in his truck when we were on our way home from the doctor.  I felt soooo bad. He just couldn't pull over fast enough.  He cleaned it all up with out complaining! What a trooper.
On a happier note Ryan and I were able to go to our 10 year high school reunion, It was great seeing so many people and catching up.

So we had a big ultra sound this week. All three babies are growing at the right rate.  Baby A weighs 1 pound!! B and C are right behind him at 15 oz. and 14 oz. respectively.  Doctor says everything looks great.  So I guess I just need to get this stupid ankle up and running and I'll be back on my feet.

***Still praying to make it to at least 28 weeks! So 7 more weeks to go, to meet my first goal!***

Half Way!! At least that's what the books say.

20 weeks and counting!!!  So all the pregnancy books say "Congratulations, you are now half way to your 40 week due date!"  Well since I'm for sure not going to be making it to my April 16 due date, I am way past half way! Yah!  SO.....now that I'm so far along and the doctors appointments will be more frequent, I will be making weekly posts for updates. OB this week didn't have any concerns.  I've gained 15 pounds!!! Doctor says I will probably be gaining at least another 30 more :(  There's alot of water weight with triplets.  We Got to see the little ones on ultra sound. Baby girl was sucking her thumb ;)  The only thing I DISLIKE about this pregnancy is the acid reflux!!  It is horrible.  I drink a gallon of milk in 4 days. Milk seems to be the only thing that helps with the heart burn.  I've been talking with another woman, via email, who had triplets this past august and she said her acid reflux went away they day the babies were born. Halleluia! I am looking forward to that day even more....if that's even possible.

So Ryan decided to get the christmas decorations up early this year. I couldn't help but look at our two stockings on the fireplace and picture 3 more there next year! How crazy is that!?!
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving!

Gender Revealing Party!!!

So I pretty much knew we couldn't go through this entire pregnancy not knowing what our three little ones were! But I wanted to find out in a special way and I wanted our families to be there too.  Ryan, however...just could NOT wait! So he found out at our dr. appointment and kept the secret for a week and a half!! I knew he wouldn't say anything but he didn't make it easy on me. At least a couple times a day I would hear him ask me "sooooo....do you want to know!?"  Finally is was the day of the party!  He went to the balloon shop and had them put either pink confetti or blue confetti in black balloons.  We had both our families over for some dessert and balloon popping! It was so much fun having everyone there to celebrate the babies!  The outcome:

BABY A: BLUE confetti! IT'S A BOY!
BABY B: PINK confetti! IT'S A GIRL!
BABY C: BLUE confetti! IT'S A BOY!

We are sooooo excited!!! Now the fun begins!! Shopping, decorating and picking out names!

Frequently Asked Questions

When are you due? A simple answer would be April 16th. However, that is a date set at 40 weeks gestations. The average triplets are born at 33 weeks. Which puts me in the last week of February.  Of course Ryan and I are all about beating the odds these days so we are praying for March babies. I would LOVE to make it to 35 weeks. So please be praying and rooting for MARCH!

So do Triplets run in your family? A simple answer would be NO. However, there is an explanation for these babies.  Did you know that 1 in 10 couples suffer with infertility?  Did you know that it could take a NORMAL healthy couple 8 mo. to a year to conceive? Did you know that a YEAR of trying is a really really long time?? It's a really long time of answering questions like "so you've been married a while, when are you going to have a baby?" "Don't you want to have kids?" There were so many times that I just wanted to scream: It's not a matter of WANTING! I've been WANTING for a really long time.  Did you know that with every woman's cycle she only has a 20% chance of conceiving in any give month? 20%!!! How in the world are there so many pregnant people out there?!  If this blog post achieves only one thing, I hope it informs people that each pregnancy is a unique and a special gift from God. Pregnancy and pregnancy achievement should not be taken for granted and fertility should not be assumed.  It is a personal question to ask someone about their plans for children, given that you don't know what they may be going through privately. I would not wish the struggles of infertility on anyone, but I do feel like Ryan and I have both grown so much in our experience. We have grown together and we have grown in our faith. God has definitely taught us patience and has taught us to be faithful and with a triplet pregnancy I'm sure he's ready to teach us more and we are ready to learn! Anyway to get back to the question...We tried for a year before seeing an OB. Of course the OB wants to do standard testing before sending us to a specialist. Checking hormone levels, thyroid levels, counts, tube blockage, ect. These are all planned around the monthly cycle so again we are trying for more months during the process. We are sent to a specialist because of unexplained infertility. Ugggghhh!!! So frustrating. We started fertility hormone meds. I of course get my hopes up that it's going to work this month because we are being proactive and we are getting help......and of course....nothing. For four more months. Of course with medication comes an increased chance of multiples because of the overstimulation to the ovaries. A chance Ryan and I were both on board with. But after 4 months of this I'm thinking....sheeesh even this ISN'T working!!  By this time we are on our 18th month of trying to conceive and BINGO, we get not one, not two, but three! I'm thinking back on how many months went by with nothing and then the ONE month an egg takes it's actually three. I don't really know if I call that so much of an explanation, as I do a MIRACLE.  God has blessed us tremendously and makes the 18th months on an emotional roller-coaster worth every minute.

How are you feeling? A simple answer would be crummy.  I did have a good month of daily throw ups. Still do throw up on occasion.  Daily heartburn and a whole range of other not so fun symptoms. But I can still think back to 6 months ago like it was yesterday, listening to some friends complain about all their pregnancy ailments and I was thinking to myself  I would give anything to be puking my guts out right now if it meant that I was pregnant.  So how can I complain about something that I've been so desperately praying for? So you ask how I am feeling? I am feeling extremely thankful and grateful!

Who is your doctor? Well I can't see an OB in Visalia, all the doctors here don't see anyone with more than twins. So I'm going to Dr. Thomas, on OB in Fresno. He monitors my health. I also see a perinatologist in fresno, Dr. Woods and she monitors the babies.

Well that's all the questions for now, if you have more questions feel free to ask!!

We have only purchased one thing so far for the babies. And yes the purchase was X3. The cribs:

They make the room look super small!!!

Here's a cute picture frame my aunt made for us:
